Sunday Six - Sephora Draw The Line Review

Before I sat down to write this review I wondered to myself if it was really something that I should be doing. After all, I'm definitely no make-up expert and have only just started experimenting with higher end products and anything more than basic mascara and lip gloss. But then I thought that's exactly why I should be writing this. I think there's a lot of girls out there like me that want to know more about makeup but aren't really sure where to start. I figured that the Sephora Draw The Line set which comes with six sample sized eyeliners would be a great place to start, and for just $36 you really can't go wrong.

The set has 2 liquid liners (by Stila and Kat Von D) and 4 pencil liners (Sephora, Nars, Urban Decay and Marc Jacobs). Last week I tried each of the 6 liners on different days. Here's what I thought of them (I've included links to the individual products on Sephora's site and the price of the full sized versions).

Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($26) - As the only brown liner in the set this one immediately stood out. The color is dark enough to still be very noticeable while being a bit less intense than it's fellow black liners. I was incredibly impressed with how easy it was to use! I've strayed from liquid liners in the past because I couldn't seem to make them look good, but this one made application a breeze and didn't go on too thick. At the end of the day it looked just as good as first thing in the morning. This actually turned out to be my favorite of the six!

Kat Von D Deluxe Tattoo Liner ($23) - I was also impressed with the easy application of this liner, however compared to the Stila it seemed to go on a little thicker which I wasn't as thrilled with. It also had great staying power and looked fantastic all day!

Deluxe Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner ($30) - This gel crayon was one of my least favorites of the set. I found application a bit more difficult than the rest as it is only smudgeable for a short time before it sets. But this did make it very long lasting- it still looked great even after an intense workout class. At $30 it was the most expensive of the group and I doubt I could justify repurchasing it.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil ($19) - This was easily my favorite of the pencil liners. It was so easy to use and looked great! It lasted well for most of the day, but didn't survive my workout class.

Nars Cosmetics Via Veneto Larger Than Life™ Long Wear Eyeliner ($28) - I thought that this liner was good, but nothing special. It was easy to use and long lasting, but not worth the $28 price tag.

Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil 12 HR Wear ($12) - This liner gets you the best bang for your buck out of the group. I didn't like it as much as the Urban Decay, but it's a great option for buying fun colors that you wouldn't wear every day -there's 35 of them!

The bottom line? If you're just getting into makeup and not sure what to buy this set is a great place to start. I plan on repurchasing the Stila Liquid Eyeliner as well as the Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil when I use the minis up as my go-to liners. I will probably also grab a few of the Sephora Eye Pencils in bright colors for fun makeup looks.

Have any of you picked up this set or tried these liners?
