The Music Tag

I saw this tag over at Gembolini and just had to do it! And I encourage you all to as well! I love finding out about other peoples' music interests.

1. Favourite Band/Musician at the moment?

It would be a toss up between Sir Sly, Chet Faker and Close Talker. I’ve got all 3 on heavy rotation right meow.

2. Band or Musician you always come back to?

The Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl is such a boss.

3. Favourite songs of all time?

Oh wow, this will be tough. I’ll cover off a lot of years of changing music taste with this one.
“White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane,
“Lithium” by Nirvana,
“A Beautiful Lie” by 30 Seconds to Mars,
“A Little Piece of Heaven” by Avenged Sevenfold,
“Staplegunned” by the Spill Canvas,
“My Hero” by the Foo Fighters,
“When the Levee Breaks” by Led Zeppelin
“Civilian” by Wye Oak,
“I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” by the Arctic Monkeys
“I Will Follow You into the Dark” by Death Cab For Cutie
“The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire

Ok. I’ll stop. You can listen to all of my all time faves here:

4. First concert you ever attended?

It wasn’t until I was 17 and I saw The Spill Canvas at a small local show.

5. Best concert you ever attended?

Hands down, Arcade Fire. I saw them at Coachella this past year and was absolutely blown away. Before that it would have been the Foo Fighters at Lollapalooza when they played “My Hero” in the pouring rain. That was an unforgettable moment.

6. Favourite CD/Album?

If we’re talking about older albums, then The Spill Canvas – One Fell Swoop. I can’t imagine how many times I listened to that album completely when I was a teenager. If I had to pick a newer album I’d say Close Talker’s Timbers. Every song on that album is a gem and I can’t wait for their next album to come out in November.

7. Favourite album art?

I'm going to go with an oldie, but a goodie - Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I have my dad's vinyl of it and Obscured By Cloud's hanging in my place.

8. Favourite movie soundtrack?

“Safety Not Guaranteed” surprised me with how much I loved the soundtrack.

9. Most embarrassing song in your iTunes library?

Haha, I’m not really embarrassed by any, but my guilty pleasure is old T. Swift. And everyone knows it.

10. Top 3 songs played in your iTunes library?

I use Spotify and it doesn’t accurately keep track of play count.

11. Favourite song quote or lyric?

The one that comes to mind is “So move your feet from hot pavement and into the grass” from Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs.”

12. Can you play any instruments?

Not even a little bit.

13. Do you have "a song" with anyone special?

Kind of. I have lots of songs that remind me of people, but nothing I would call “Our Song.”

14. Has your music taste changed over time?

So much! I started out liking Britney Spears, like so many little girls and then popped in an old Jefferson Airplane tape that my dad had and “White Rabbit” radically changed my tastes. Since that I’d dabbled in new metal a bit and had a pretty serious punk phase. Now I like more relaxed indie rock and pop, but definitely still crank the old favorites now and again.

15. What is the last song you listened to? Or the song you're listening to now?

“History” by Holy Holy. I just came across it yesterday and it’s really great.

16. What's the most musically involved you've ever been?

Does going to a music festival count?

17. What is your favourite band T-Shirt?

I have a Muse “The Resistance” tank and it gets a ton of wear.

18. Who is one dead musician you wish would come back?

I’m going to be really obvious and go with Kurt Cobain.

19. One musician you'd love to interview?

Win Butler from Arcade Fire. I bet he’d have a lot of interesting things to say.

20. Finally, name a song that gets you pumped up and ready to take on any challenge

“What You Know” by Two Door Cinema Club always gets me going.

And I'm just gonna throw this song on here since I can't stop listening to it today

    1. Neat! I don't know a ton of people that listen to Chet Faker. And ff you ever get the chance to go to Coachella, take it! I've been to a few festivals and none of them compared.
