On Me and the Model - Maaji Swimwear Review

So let's just get this out of the way. I have big boobs; I'm not going to dance around the subject and use terms like "ample bosomed" or "busty". I spent enough of my teenage years being awkward about my boobs and I'm just so done with that. Now that we've got that out of the way, let's get to the review.

As someone living in a city of less than 200,000 people where winter somehow seems to last nine months out of the year just finding a cute bikini in store, let alone one that actually fit well, is a challenge. The bustling metropolis of Regina, Saskatchewan is sadly absent of stores such as Victoria's Secret, H & M, Forever 21 and IKEA (I know that IKEA doesn't sell bikinis, but I'm still really sad that we don't have one). As a large chested lady I have even less selection than the average woman. I've had some luck at La Vie En Rose, but they don't offer much variety from year to year.

Enter Maaji. I discovered www.southernswim.com (a Maaji retailer) via Instagram's explore and instantly fell in the love with the wild patterns, interesting shapes and reversibility(!!!) of their suits. But the question was, and is one I feel that all women have asked so many times, "does it come in my size?" Looking at the size chart, the X-Large was meant to fit a D cup, with a 40-41 inch bust circumference. Considering that I am a DDD with a 38 inch bust I thought just maybe I could make it work. So I did the logical thing and I bought 2 suits - Itsy Bitsy Chevrons (pictured) and Fractal Reverie. Go big or go home right?

When I got the package a couple of weeks later I was so excited! When I opened it I was thrilled with how bright the colors were, the quality of the fabric and how well constructed the suits were. Upon trying them on I found that while the cups were on the smaller side I still felt comfortable in them. They even passed the jump test - a.k.a. me jumping up and down to see if my boobs would fall out, which they didn't! By no means would they be appropriate for swimming laps or tough currents, but for a day at the beach or a night drinking in a friend's hot tub til 4 a.m. they'll do perfectly. And you can be sure that no one else will have a suit quite like yours.

As for the bottoms, I was happy with both! I got 2 different styles - signature and cheeky (see http://www.maajiswimwear.com/fits-and-benefits for details). I liked both, but the cheeky were definitely my favorite. They make my butt look amazing! No other pair of swimsuit bottoms I've owned have been so bootylicious.

If you're considering purchasing a Maaji suit I'd say go for it! I'm in love with some of the pieces from their new collection, especially Mary O' Hara, which is available at southernswim.com now!
